It’s by Buchi Emecheta. Well worth a read if you can locate it. It’s excellent. Very much about the personal sacrifices a mother makes in order to see her children thrive, and the consequences of that. It’s largely set in an African village community.
I did a semester of African Lit many years ago at Uni. The one that sticks in my mind is ‘The Joys of Motherhood’.
